About This Dog for Adoption
Gigi's ideal home
Gigi is a smart and affectionate five-year-old Crossbreed with a big heart and an even bigger love for cuddles. She is looking for a home where she can be the only pet and enjoy plenty of one-to-one attention from her humans. Gigi travels well, is housetrained, and can be left alone for a few hours once settled, making her a great fit for a household with a steady routine. She will need a secure private or communal garden where she can potter and play safely on a longline, she must remain on lead when out and about.
Due to her sensitivity around food, Gigi is unsuitable for open plan living and will need to be safely managed behind a baby gate during mealtimes or food prep. Gigi would be happiest as the only dog in the home. She can still enjoy doggy acquaintances during her walks, provided they are in quiet areas where she feels comfortable.
Resident children should be aged 16+ but Gigi would be fine with visiting children aged 10 and up, as long as they are respectful of her space. She thrives with a bit of structure and clear boundaries, and will slot in well with adopters who are ready to offer her a calm and loving home.
Could you be Gigi's perfect match?
If you are looking for a cuddly companion to share your sofa and your snacks, Gigi might be the one. She adores fuss and attention, and is instantly friendly with new people. Gigi is a foodie, which makes her a dream to train — she already knows her basic cues like sit, paw, and recall, and would love to learn more with owners who enjoy positive reinforcement. She is curious, loves exploring new environments, and has even been known to tolerate a quick shower after a roll in something smelly!
Gigi will do best in a home where she can enjoy a calm, consistent routine and ongoing training. Her new family should be happy to work with her around food, continue her lead-walking with care, and offer her a cosy, structured space where she can feel safe and settled. She is not keen on water or having her nails trimmed, but she is happy being touched all over, handled for vet-style checks, and is generally cooperative with familiar people.
If you are ready to offer a loving home to a sweet, sensitive girl who will give you loads of affection in return, Gigi is waiting to meet you.
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.
