About This Dog

Skye's ideal home

Skye would be wonderfully suited to a quieter or moderately active home—one that can offer her a sense of routine, gentle handling, and a calm, predictable atmosphere. In a peaceful environment, her confidence really shines, and she can continue growing into the happy, relaxed dog she’s meant to be.
She would thrive in a home with secondary‑aged children or adults, where the people around her can understand her signals and give her the space when she needs it.
A private, secure garden will give Skye the perfect place to explore, play, and enjoy her outdoor time safely.
Skye is eager to learn and would love a family committed to ongoing, positive training—especially around building her handling confidence, harness skills, toilet training, and calm introductions to new experiences.
Her new family will ideally have an understanding of some of her breed’s natural traits, such as a keen interest in small animals and wildlife, and be ready to guide her kindly in these situations.
With gentle encouragement, Skye will continue to gain confidence at the vet, as she can feel a little unsure during examinations.
Skye generally enjoys the company of other dogs and can do especially well with calmer canine companions. She may happily live with a compatible, steady dog—pending successful introductions and continued work on her recall and focus.

Could you be Skye's perfect match?

Skye is a delightful two‑year‑old Jack Russell Terrier currently in our care through our Homestay scheme.
She loves meeting new people and greets them with a relaxed body, a high wagging tail, and plenty of enthusiasm. While she may take a moment to feel comfortable with more formal handling—such as putting on a harness or during vet checks—Skye quickly builds trust and truly shines with familiar faces. With those she knows, she is affectionate, enjoys a good fuss, and then happily resumes exploring her surroundings.
Curious, lively, and full of character, Skye brings wonderful energy to any new environment. She engages joyfully with the world around her and may express herself vocally if startled by sudden noises. She is generally friendly with other dogs, and although larger dogs can make her a little unsure, she sensibly chooses to give them space when she needs it.
Skye has only been left for short periods—typically 2–3 hours—so she will benefit from a home where her alone time is gradually built up. She loves being close to her humans and can be vocal when separated, so a patient and understanding family will help her feel secure.
She currently travels in a crate on the back seat and may experience car sickness on longer journeys of around 45 minutes, so she would be happiest in a home where frequent or long-distance travel isn’t essential.
Skye is a sweet, inquisitive little dog who will make a wonderful, loving companion in the right home.
