About This Dog for Adoption

Shya's ideal home

Say hello to Shya! Shya is a 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier who has plenty of love to share and is looking for a retirement home where she can take life at a slower pace. Despite her age she enjoys running around the foster carers garden and is still very keen to get out for walks where she can take her time to sniff and explore, she is happy to do this near home or travelling in the car to go on new adventures. When resting in the house she likes to be close to her foster carers and enjoys watching what is going on and would prefer her forever home to have someone around for most of the day to keep her company. Shya could live in a home with secondary school aged children who understand that she is in her senior years and enjoys resting and taking life at a slower pace these days.

Could you be Shya's perfect match?

Shya has got along well with other dogs that she has met and has been quite playful with them at times, she could share her new home with another, calm doggy companion pending successful meets. Shya is currently on pain relief and is really benefiting from it, if you would like to discuss this further you can contact the team at Ballymena Rehoming Centre. If you think you could offer Shya her retirement home, follow the steps below to submit an application and don't forget to "favourite" her!

Jack Russell Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Jack Russell Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Jack Russell Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
