About This Dog for Adoption

Fields's ideal home

If you are experienced with terriers and looking to build a one-on-one bond with a character, Fields might be the dog for you. This six-year-old Jack Russell is full of personality and knows exactly what he likes! Fields will need to be the only pet in an adult only home with minimal visitors, in a quiet area where he can enjoy peaceful walks without running into other dogs. He must be kept on lead and muzzled when out and about, as he can be reactive and needs careful handling around his triggers.

Fields is not used to travelling, so any car journeys will need to be taken slowly. Because he can guard items he finds valuable, an understanding of body language and experience around resource guarding is ideal. If you are happy to give Fields the time and space he needs to feel safe, he has the potential to be a brilliant little companion.

Could you be Fields's perfect match?

Fields is a handsome chap who enjoys nothing more than chomping on his favourite soft toys, though he can be a bit enthusiastic and has been known to dismantle a few! He is curious and independent, often happy to explore on his own, but once he knows you, he can be affectionate and will happily hop onto your lap for a cuddle. He has started to enjoy gentle fuss with people he trusts and has been a superstar with his grooming once a relationship is built.

He can find restraint a bit worrying and will need slow, positive handling when it comes to putting on his harness or being examined by the vet. He has been learning to wear a muzzle comfortably and has shown that, with time and consistency, he can adapt well to new things. Fields does have his worries, but if you are prepared to go at his pace and offer him a secure, understanding home, he will reward you with loyalty, cheeky charm, and plenty of toy-related antics.

Jack Russell Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Jack Russell Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Jack Russell Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
