About This Dog

Iris's ideal home

Iris is an 11-month-old Jack Russell Terrier looking for a calm, patient home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She is a sensitive and nervous young girl who can be wary of new people and unfamiliar situations, particularly when out on walks. However, once she feels safe and secure, Iris is affectionate and will happily seek out attention from those she trusts. She would benefit from adopters who understand nervous dogs and are willing to give her the time, space, and reassurance she needs to settle in. Iris could live with older secondary school-aged children who have experience of nervous dogs and will respect her boundaries. She will also need ongoing support and training to help improve her confidence when walking on a lead.

Could you be Iris's perfect match?

Although Iris can be nervous, she is the more confident of the pair she currently shares her kennel with and often takes the lead when approaching new situations. She gets on well with dogs of a similar size and has enjoyed off-lead interactions with smaller dogs, although she can be wary of larger dogs and may bark at them. Iris could happily live with another calm, similarly sized dog, which may help her settle more quickly. Friendly, loving, and full of potential, Iris is looking for a family to open their home and hearts to her.
