About This Dog for Adoption
Paddington (Paddy)'s ideal home
Paddy is a lovely boy who is hoping to find a calm, understanding home where he can truly relax and shine. He would do best with adults or older, dog‑savvy secondary‑school‑aged children who can offer him the gentle, predictable environment he thrives in. Paddy is very good at expressing his needs and will simply choose to move away from situations that feel a bit unpredictable, especially around younger children.
He will flourish in a quiet to moderately busy household where the atmosphere is peaceful and reassuring. This calm environment will help him feel secure, especially as he builds confidence with new handling and welcomes new visitors at his own pace.
A private, secure garden would give Paddy a safe space to explore and unwind, and he will benefit from a family committed to continuing his training—particularly around alone time—so he can feel increasingly settled and confident.
Paddy has previously lived harmoniously with a cat and responded well to a confident feline who knew how to set boundaries. With another steady, well‑rounded cat and a thoughtful introduction, he may be able to enjoy feline company again.
When it comes to dogs, Paddy walks beautifully alongside calm companions at a comfortable distance and is very good at disengaging politely. However, he would be happiest enjoying his home life as the only dog, where he can soak up all the love and attention.
Paddy has a gentle, sensitive nature, and in the right home, he will become a truly devoted and rewarding companion.
Could you be Paddington (Paddy)'s perfect match?
Paddy is a charming nine‑year‑old Jack Russell Terrier–Papillon cross, currently in our care through our Homestay scheme.
He is a gentle, affectionate little dog who forms beautifully strong bonds with the people he knows. When approached calmly, Paddy is often instantly friendly with new adults and loves a fuss—he’ll happily lean in or nudge your hand to ask for just a little more attention. Although he can feel unsure with quicker or more formal handling, especially around his head, taking things slowly helps him relax and feel at ease.
Paddy prefers calm, predictable environments and is understandably cautious around children, choosing to move away quietly rather than engage.
He enjoys his toys, enrichment activities, and gentle walks, and his enthusiasm can vary depending on the weather—on cosy days, he’s just as happy to potter, sniff, and explore at his own pace. What he loves most is simply spending time with the people he trusts. With patience, reassurance, and a peaceful home, Paddy will become a devoted and deeply rewarding companion.
Paddy tries very hard to stay close to his people and can struggle when left. He may whine or pace when someone leaves the room, and although he eventually settles, he remains alert. He will need a home where his alone time can start very small and be built up gradually, helping him learn that his humans always come back.
Paddy travels in a fabric crate on the back seat and hops into the car willingly. He settles comfortably at first and travels best on smoother, straighter routes like motorways. On winding roads he can become a little unsettled, sometimes whining or barking, so his new family should be prepared to offer reassurance and continue giving him positive travel experiences.
With his gentle nature, loving personality, and eagerness to bond, Paddy has so much to offer—and in the right, calm home, he will
