About This Dog

Hugo's ideal home

At 6 years old, Hugo is a shy and sensitive boy who takes his time getting to know new people. He will need patient adopters who are happy to visit him several times before he feels ready to head off to his forever home. Once he trusts you, Hugo absolutely blossoms — he loves being pampered and groomed, and is more than happy to be picked up for a cuddle with those he knows well. He is medium energy, enjoys his walks, and travels well in the car. Hugo has been housetrained by his foster carer; he uses puppy pads by the back door and happily goes out into the garden. He cannot be left alone until he is fully settled, so he’ll need someone around for much of the day initially to help him feel safe and secure.

Could you be Hugo's perfect match?

Hugo is confident and respectful when meeting other dogs and walks beautifully alongside them. He must be rehomed with his best friend Bruno, as the pair share a very special bond — and he’ll also be bringing along his beloved teddy bear! Hugo likes cats and could happily live with them. However, he does find the sound of babies crying distressing and would prefer a calm, adult-only home (16+). With the right patient, understanding family who can give him time, reassurance, and plenty of gentle affection, Hugo will become a devoted and loving companion. Hugo has some medical issues which can be discussed with the centre.
