About This Dog for Adoption

Sandy's ideal home

Sandy is an eight-year-old gentleman with a medium energy level and a big personality. Confident when meeting new people, he enjoys affection on his own terms and appreciates calm, predictable interactions. Out on walks he’s friendly but independent around other dogs, and would much rather have steady, relaxed walking companions than boisterous playmates. Sandy cannot live with children and must be the only pet in the home due to a history of resource guarding, so he’s looking for an adult-only household that understands his boundaries. Once settled, he can be left for a few hours, though this will need to be built up gradually to ensure he feels secure.

Could you be Sandy's perfect match?

Sandy would suit adopters who are patient, consistent, and keen to support him with ongoing training. He can be worried in the vets and currently wears a muzzle for appointments, so his new family should be prepared to continue his positive training around handling and vet visits. With guidance from the training and behaviour team, you’ll also learn how to manage his resource-guarding tendencies. Despite his quirks, Sandy is a sprightly boy who loves chasing tennis balls, zooming around the garden, and bonding with his favourite people. Once trust is built, he shows his affectionate side—and for the right adopter, he will make a loyal and loving companion.
