About This Dog for Adoption
Rusty's ideal home
Golden oldie Rusty is now ready to find his perfect retirement home where he can enjoy his senior years in comfort. At 10 years old, he much prefers the quieter things in life and loves spending his afternoons relaxing. Rusty is mostly housetrained and is content being left for an hour or so. His favourite place in the world is curled up beside you or on your lap, snoozing the evening away while you watch TV together.
Rusty is a sweet, friendly little lad with a gentle, affectionate nature. He’s hoping for a calm home with children aged 14+ who can appreciate his slower pace and respect his older years. While he won’t be running any marathons, he’s perfectly happy with a gentle potter, taking in all the sniffs of the day, or pottering around the garden soaking up the sunshine.
We think Rusty could live with another calm, gentle dog of a similar size, but he isn’t suitable to live with cats or small furries.
Could you be Rusty's perfect match?
As an older gent, Rusty does have some ongoing medical needs and is currently on medication for these to keep him comfortable. Our team here at the centre would be happy to discuss Rusty's needs with potential adopters. This dog is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.
