About This Dog for Adoption

Dickie's ideal home

Dickie is a sweet and sensitive one-year-old Terrier Cross who is looking for his forever home with a calm and patient family to help him find his confidence. He prefers a quiet environment with minimal leaving hours, as he is not used to being left alone. If needed, time left alone could be built up gradually once he feels at home. Dickie currently needs to be the only pet in his new home. He could potentially live with sensible children aged 12+.
As Dickie is naturally cautious, he will need a family who is happy to let him settle in at his own pace. He can be very avoidant of new people and environments at first, but with patience and kindness, he slowly begins to trust. He will need a quiet home, free from loud noises and fast movements, where he can feel safe and supported. He will need to be kept on a lead in public as he is a flight risk.

Could you be Dickie's perfect match?

If you are looking for a rewarding companion who will form a deep bond with you over time, Dickie could be the one! While he is nervous at first, once he gets to know you, he becomes a loving and affectionate boy who enjoys a gentle fuss. He is still learning about the world, so he will need patient guidance to help him with basic training, including walking on a lead and learning his manners.
Dickie enjoys long lasting chews but has shown little interest in toys so far. He has no previous experience with car travel beyond his journey to the kennels, where he remained quiet in his crate. He will need gentle habituation to ensure he feels comfortable travelling. Grooming and handling are best done slowly and with plenty of breaks, once settled, he will allow careful brushing with minimal restraint.
If you can offer this lovely boy the time, patience, and understanding he needs, he will blossom into a wonderful and devoted companion. Could you be the one to help Dickie feel safe and loved?
