About This Dog

Alfie's ideal home

Alfie is a sweet and loyal five-and-a-half-year-old Jack Russell Terrier cross Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a small frame. He is looking for a calm, adult-only home (16+) in a quiet area, ideally away from busy roads, where he can relax without too many distractions. Alfie is happiest when he has a predictable routine and would love an owner who is keen to continue his training to help him feel confident in different situations.
He must be walked on a lead in public, as he can be reactive towards cyclists and runners, and visitors to the home will need to be introduced carefully, with a separate room or baby gate in place to help him feel secure. He will need to be the only dog in the home but enjoys socialising with doggy friends out and about. Once settled, he can be left alone for a couple of hours, where he is likely to just curl up and snooze.

Could you be Alfie's perfect match?

If you are looking for a devoted companion with plenty of character, Alfie could be the one for you. He is an affectionate boy who loves a fuss from his favourite people and is always up for a play session with his soft, fluffy toys. He is also a real foodie, which makes training fun and rewarding, he is a smart lad who responds well to positive reinforcement.
Alfie is generally happy with handling, though he is not a fan of baths (but will tolerate them) and can be a little wary at the vets. He eats well, is housetrained, and is clever enough to learn new things when given time and patience.
Alfie needs an adopter who will help him build confidence and provide consistent guidance. He can also be wary of unfamiliar objects and fast-moving things but is naturally curious and willing to learn with the right support.
If you can offer Alfie a loving home with training, patience, and, of course, his beloved toys, he will reward you with unwavering loyalty and affection. Could you be the person he is looking for?
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.
