About This Dog for Adoption

Baxter's ideal home

Baxter is a sweet senior chap who is seeking a calm, adult-only home where he can take his time adjusting to his new surroundings. He was found as a stray, so his past is a bit of a mystery, but one thing is clear – he’s ready to find a family who can offer him the patience and stability he deserves. He can be a timid boy when it comes to strangers, especially when they approach his indoor safe space, so he would prefer minimal visitors to the home. Baxter is most comfortable meeting new people on walks, where he feels safer and more in control of the situation. While he enjoys saying hello to other dogs on his walks, we have limited information on Baxter’s history with other animals, and he will need to be the only pet in the household. This will also ensure he receives the undivided attention he needs while continuing to learn about life in a home. When it comes to car travel, Baxter is still learning to feel comfortable. He’s not yet used to long trips but is willing to get in the car, so this will need to be built up gradually. Though Baxter struggles with being left alone, he shows promise in adjusting with time and consistency. He’ll need his new family to gradually build his comfort level with being left alone once he feels fully settled.

Could you be Baxter's perfect match?

Once Baxter feels at ease, his true, affectionate nature shines through! He has a huge love for food (his favourite high-value snack being tasty sausages!) and he would like a quiet area to eat his meals where he can relax undisturbed. Baxter enjoys his walks and is especially fond of familiar routes in quiet, rural areas where there’s less traffic and noise to worry about. Ultimately, Baxter is bound to thrive in a quiet, predictable environment where he can settle in slowly, build trust, and feel secure.
